Beginning Band
The Beginning Band is made up of students who are learning to play their instruments for the first time. Students meet everyday in like-instrument classes (i.e. clarinet, trumpet, percussion, etc.). This group has two mandatory rehearsal times after school before each performance. This allows them to hear and get used to each other’s parts. Aside from playing in the Fall, Winter, and Spring Concerts, the Beginner Band will also perform at the Ensemble Festival and compete at The Sandy Lake Fun-Fest Competition in April or May. Advanced Band
The Advanced Band is made up of 7/8th graders. They meet everyday as a full band in two groups - Advanced Band Gold and Advanced Band Maroon. Students are also required to attend one sectional per week. This allows them more one-on-one time with a director in a like instrument setting (i.e. clarinet, percussion, trumpet, etc.) to help them learn their music. Aside from playing at football games and pep rallies, they will perform at the Fall, Winter, and Spring Concerts as well as the Ensemble Festival. Advanced Band students will also compete in UIL competition in the Spring. Each student is required to participate in the district Solo & Ensemble Festival, and to prepare the District All-Region music to the best of their abilities. Click HERE for Sectional Schedule.
