Congratulations! You have been selected, through audition, as one of the select few to participate in the Stafford Honors Advanced Band for the 2010-2011 school year. The goal of this group is to be the most outstanding performing ensemble in Frisco ISD and beyond. One might compare Honors Advanced Band to an AP or GT class.

Students who are in the Honors Advanced Band will be expected to:

•	Have a winning attitude and be a leader
•	Maintain a regular practice schedule
•	Perform challenging music and be accountable for knowing their part
•	Attend a mandatory 3-day summer camp (August 16-18, 6:30-8:30 P.M. at Stafford M.S.)
•	Perform two additional concerts during the school year
•	Be present and prepared for all sectionals in preparation for all-region auditions and solo & ensemble competition
•	Pass all classes each six weeks and stay out of FNR, ISS, and OSS
•	Attend all required events on time
•	Have fun!!

It is imperative that all members of the Honors Advanced Band are fully aware of what is expected of them and are working towards the same goal - to do their personal best every day. Nothing will ever be asked of you that can not be done successfully.

Due to the high level of music performed, personal training is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED for Honors Advanced Band. Funds are available from our Booster Organization for families in need. Participating in a Summer Music Camp would also be of great benefit. It is not too late to sign up for the Summer Sound Machine. Playing over the summer months is necessary to be prepared for the coming year.

If you have doubts about being a member of Honors Advanced Band please speak with Mr. Holzer. This is an opportunity to participate in something very special.

Please take a moment to email Mr. Holzer holzerc@friscoisd.org to confirm your position in the Honors Advanced Band for next year and to affirm that you will be present for the summer camp August 16-18, 6:30-8:30 P.M. at Stafford M.S.

There will be an orientation meeting for Honors Advanced Band members and parents 5:45-6:25 P.M. Thursday, August 19th at Stafford. We will discuss expectations, calendar dates for the year, and be available to answer any questions you may have.

Remember, summer is a wonderful time to begin personal training if you are not already doing so! Trainer contact info is located on our website www.staffordsoundmachine.com
